Since FCPX 10.4 and up, you need no plugin to apply a LUT. Just go to Effects, then to the Color tab, drag the Custom LUT effect on your clip and select Choose Custom LUTfrom the LUT dropdown menu!
They also work in software such as: After Effects, Photoshop, Davinci Resolve etc.
